	<title>Streamyx User : SPAM on TM's Network</title>
	<link>http://www.efaizent.net/announcements.php?id=3</link>
	<pubDate>Sun, 06 Jul 2008 00:00:00 EDT</pubDate>
	<description> Dear Valued Customers,

With regards to the subject above, please be informed that Telekom Malaysia Berhad would be performing a series of implementations on their systems, starting 15th January 2008, as part of their effort to combat the ongoing Spam issues. One of the significant effect on their practices is that the Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP), used for OUTBOUND email traffic through port 25 would be blocked for all DYNAMIC IP ADDRESSES. Affected users would be those using mail clients (e.g. Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Outlook Express, Mozilla Thunderbird, etc.) riding on TMNet Streamyx ADSL lines. With such implementations mails sent from mail clients through the mentioned connection would not be possible and there would be connection related errors in their mail clients.

There are a few workarounds to curb this difficulty as below. Either one of these can be adopted to avoid the above mentioned issue.

 Solution 1 (Provided by TM)

The SMTP settings of your mail client would need to be reset to "smtp-proxy.tm.net.my" (without quotes) instead of the current "mail.yourdomainname.com" (without quotes). Also, the option "My Server Requires Authentication" would need to be UNCHECKED.

For more information, kindly refer to the below URL:
 http://webmail.tm.net.my/info/proxy.html
 * Please take note that this is to be done for those who DO NOT have internal mail server

  Solution 2 (Provided by TM)

For those who has internal mail server, please refer to the below URL for the details of the modifications needed.
 http://webmail.tm.net.my/info/smtp-proxy.html

We truly regret for the troubles and inconveniences that might be caused due to the implementations done by Telekom Malaysia Berhad. We do however welcome any inquiries and we would gladly provide necessary assistance accordingly to minimize any complications due to the above mentioned practise.

Thank you very much for your kind attention.
